Morgan McEwen
Morgan McEwen began her professional ballet career at age 17 with the Richmond Ballet. Ms McEwen then continued on to BalletMet where she had the honor to dance several soloist roles. In 2008 Morgan moved to New York to dance with the Metropolitan Opera where she spent ten seasons. Here she had the opportunity to dance in numerous Metropolitan Opera premiers including Rossini’s Armida and Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann; as well as the world premier of Enchanted Island. Morgan has performed on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre in Brigadoon. Ms McEwen has danced with Neos Dance Theatre, Syracuse City Ballet, Gleich Dances, and Tom Gold Dance and has been invited to guest with many companies across the country. Morgan founded the contemporary ballet company MorDance in January 2013 and serves as the director and resident choreographer. She has been sighted by the New York Times as having “an eye for shaping the arc of a dance as carefully as the transitions and details within it.” Ms McEwen has been commissioned to choreograph for Eglevsky Ballet, and the New York Opera Exchange’s La Traviata. Additionally, Morgan was a 2017-18 recipient of a CUNY Dance Initiative Grant, as well as a Kaatsbaan UpStream Residency. Morgan is excited to be choreographing for her second time on the dancers of Columbia Ballet Collaborative. Follow Morgan on Instagram @mobunhead.
